There is no quarantine in Argentina. A certificate stating that the animal is in good health and has been inoculated against rabies (for dogs and cats) is required. This document must be issued by a veterinarian and certified at the nearest Consulate of Argentina. These certificates must be submitted to the consulate for legalisation. Be advised that all the documentation must be obtained within 10 days prior the departure of the animal or otherwise it will be void.
The airline must notify the station manager, at least 24 hours prior to arrival, at the point of entry giving notice of pets on board in order to ensure attendance of veterinary surgeon at the arrival airport.
RESTRICTIONS: All animals (including cats and dogs) coming from Africa or Asia (except Japan) must obtain prior telex authorisation from quarantine department (SENASA) in Argentina.
An official International Health Certificate stating fowl plaque and psittacosis have not been diagnosed must accompany psittacine birds.
In short, the requirements to be fulfilled to get dogs and cats into Argentina are the following:
1. Complete information on the owner
(a) first and last name;
(b) country of origin or departure;
(c) countries in transit (if any);
(d) address.
2. Information about the animal
(a) breed – sex;
(b) birth date – size;
(c) weight–fur colour;
(d) particular signs.
3. Vaccination certificate against rabies for animals over 3 months old
For animals under 3 months old or that are coming from a country free from rabies and/or where anti–rabies vaccination is prohibited, this situation has to be stated on the certificate issued by the official sanitary authority.
